"Scarecrow Contest"
an official event of the
Mount Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival

October 7th, 2007 (Sunday) 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

How Does the
"Scarecrow Contest" Work?
The "Scarecrow Contest" is an official event of the Mount Hood Salmon
&
Mushroom
Festival. There will be two separate catagories for the Scarecrow
entries, each will provide the public with plenty
of opportunities to get
some great photographs for the harvest season:
~1~ "Made-From-Scratch Scarecrow", in which
participants will make their
figure right at the Mount Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival. [NOTE: They can
bring
their own clothes, wood frames, and stuffing which will be limited to
either corn stalks or newspaper, but no hay due to
the clean-up mess.]
~2~ "Pre-Made Scarecrow", in which participants will bring their figure
already made to the
Mount Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival.
Under these two categories, the participants can be judged
for the
following:
€"Best Dressed Female Scarecrow"
€"Best
Dressed Male Scarecrow"
€"Best Creation"
€"Best of Show"
€"Best Standing Scarecrow"
€"Best Laying Down or Sitting Scarecrow"
€"Best Stuffed Scarecrow"
€"Best Baby Scarecrow"
€"Best Miniature
Scarecrow"
€"Best Alternative Scarecrow"
€"Best Giant Scarecrow"
€"Best Theme Scarecrow"
€"Scariest Scarecrow"
€"Most Handsome Scarecrow"
€"Most Beautiful Scarecrow"
€ And other categories the judges may dream-up
right on the
spot!
All entries in the "Scarecrow Contest" will participate in a special
"Scarecrow Fashion Show"
and will be eligible for awards. All creations
entered will be both displayed and explained by the individual or
individuals
who have created these unique works of art and fashion.
Participants can enter both Saturday and Sunday, but winners
cannot enter
the same Scarecrow.
Rules of the "Scarecrow Contest"
Participants for the "Scarecrow
Contest" Must Follow The Following Rules:
Made-From-Scratch Scarecrow: Saturday & Sunday Contests
Those entering the "Made-From-Scratch Scarecrow" category should arrive
by 11 a.m. at the small tent in the courtyard at
Mt. Hood Village where some
events of the Mount Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival are taking place. They
will
have to sign-in and will have two hours to create their Scarecrow.
Judging will begin at 1 p.m. The "Scarecrow Fashion
Show" will take place
at 2:00 p.m. and the individual participant(s) or their representative must
be available to participate
or will not be eligible for the official
competition.
[SPECIAL NOTE: We will have some clothing and newspaper
stuffings available
for use by those who do not have any materials to make a scarecrow.
However, these materials will
be limited and will be on a first come basis.]
There is no entry fee!
"Pre-Made Scarecrow": Saturday
& Sunday Contests
Those entering the "Pre-Made Scarecrow" category should arrive by
Noon
at
the small tent in the courtyard at Mt. Hood Village where some events of
the Mount Hood Salmon & Mushroom Festival
are taking place. They will have
to sign-in and will have two hours to create their Scarecrow. Judging will
begin
at 1 p.m. The "Scarecrow Fashion Show" will take place at 2:00
